Christina Read wins the $50,000 Overlay Guaranteed Ladies event at The Lodge Poker Club

Christina Read topped a field of 326 entries in the $50,000 Women’s Guaranteed Overlay Tournament at The Lodge Poker Club & Card House in Round Rock, Texas to win the first prize worth $28,466. It was her sixth tournament win of her career and her overall winnings rose to $232,290.
“Thank you to everyone who helped bring this together and gave support to all women,” Read said in a social media post.
Read’s other tournament victories over the years include wins in women’s events at the Aria Poker Classic ($135 buy-in event 2015), Maltese Poker Festival (€100 buy-in event), and the Ladies International Poker Series National Championship ($450 buy-in event in 2022). And in addition to these events, he also had wins in an all-in or fold bounty event with buy-ins from $200 to a DeepStacks Poker World Tour stop in 2019 and a $375 buy-in event in 2021 Freedom Day in Georgia.
The strong turnout for this event created a prize pool of $146,702 (including $50,000 in added money). The top 45 players all cashed at least $1,082. Was part of Lodge Poker Championship tournament series that ran from April 26 to May 16.

Businessman and frequent high-stakes poker player Bill Perkins (pictured above at the event) announced the $500 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament (with himself winning $ 50,000) in response to the recent women’s event at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown which was won by a male player named David Hughes..

The final table was live streamed from The Lodge, with commentary by Ruth Hall and Jamie Kerstetter. The bottom five players concluded a deal based on ICM. Ashley Frank, a poker vlogger known to many as PokerfaceAsh, finished fourth for $23,343.
The final hand saw Read flopping a ten-high straight against Krisha Augerot’s pocket kings. All chips moved all-in with Read as a 97% favorite to win the pot and the title. Augerot was draw dead after a blank on the turn, finishing second for $27,641.
