“Opitbetpoker” becomes the first Grand Prix Summer Champion
[
Three of the 12 numbered Summer Grand Prix events have crowned their champions and “Optibetpoker” is one of those deserving winners. They triumphed in the $50,000 Guaranteed Grand Prix Summer Opener PKO, taking home $8,673.
Approximately 2,511 PartyPoker players signed up, creating a guaranteed prize pool of $75,330, and getting the Grand Prix Summer series off to a flying start. That substantial prize pool meant that all but two of the nine finalists saw their $33 investment climb to a four-figure sum.
“MegaMove87” was the first of the finalists to withdraw. Their ninth-place finish came with $922 bounty included. “Sn1jden” added himself to the eliminated list, with $611 to show for their efforts.
“Gordothegreat” and “KannstduLeihen” went out and raised $1,026 and $1,205, respectively, leaving just five players in the hunt for the championship title.
Those five became four when Igotdanuts01″ fell by the wayside, taking $1,831 with him.
“erikdinho” was eliminated in fourth place for $3,039, “pokerdave47699” pocketed $3,491 after falling to third place, with that penultimate elimination sending the Opener PKO in heads-up play.
“Optibetpoker” battled “c4ught” for the lion’s share of the prize pool and the all-important win. The one-on-one battle went the way of the first, and they saw $8,673 land in their PartyPoker account, leaving “c4ught” to collect a $4,947 consolation prize.
