For the past 12 years, poker pro and author Bernard Lee has continued his annual holiday tradition of helping those less fortunate.
Lee, twice WSOP Circuit a ring winner with more than $2 million in career tournament earnings, he partnered with his initiative The Full House Charity Program to distribute gift packages to 40 different homeless families in the Boston area. Lee’s children were on hand to help, and in total, there were 65 children who received gifts consisting of books, toys, games, art supplies and even winter clothing.
“My children and I look forward to this holiday tradition, as it brings so much joy and happiness to my family,” said Lee. “We feel fortunate to provide holiday gifts to these families, especially children who may not have been able to afford such gifts during this difficult time. Thankfully, we have a wonderful partner in FamilyAid, helping us deliver these packages to specific families in Boston. Also, thanks to my RunGoodGear family, who donate toys to my cause every holiday season. Happy holidays to all.”
Lee launched her Full House charitable program in February of 2011 and has since provided more than $100,000 worth of assets and funds to child-focused organizations in New England. The program has helped over 450 families and 750 children throughout its history.
“FamilyAid is thrilled and grateful that Bernard Lee is giving gifts to children in our shelters during the holiday season as well. His generous donations come at a time when families face more limited financial resources than ever before. For many families in need, giving holiday gifts is daunting, if not impossible,” said FamilyAid President Larry Seamans. “Thanks to Bernard and his family, the children in our care will have gifts to enjoy and parents will be relieved to see their children’s smiles. We thank the Lee family for their continued generosity, compassion and commitment.”
“It’s been great to see Bernard year after year offering a special vacation for families,” said Tana Karn, president and founder of RunGoodGear. “The RunGood team and I are grateful to be able to help Bernard deliver a memorable holiday season this year and others to come.”
