2023 Triton Super High Roller Series Vietnam awarded $55.5 million in total prize money across its 13 events during the first few weeks of March, with an average prize pool of just under $4 million per tournament. The new stop on the tour at Hoiana Resort & Golf in Quang Nam, Vietnam saw the record most course sizes, including the largest overall attendance (179 entries for the $20,000 bounty event) and the bigger Triton main event field (135 entries).
The series concluded with one of the smaller events on the schedule, a $20,000 buy-in turbo short deck tournament. With 28 entries, the final prize pool of $560,000 was only awarded to the top five finishers.
At the end of the day it was Canadian high-stakes tournament pro Sam Greenwood who emerged victorious, earning $207,000 for the win. This was Greenwood’s third final table of the year, having also won the $250,000 buy-in to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and finished second in a €25,000 buy-in high roller at the European Poker Tour Paris Festival. With two titles, 976 Card player Player of the Year points and $3,780,171 to date POY extension earnings, Greenwood now sits just outside the top 100 in 2023 POY extension race classification presented by Global Poker.
Greenwood weathered a tough final table en route to victory, outlasting the likes of Poker World Tour champion Seth Davies (4th – $65,800) and a red-hot Isaac Haxton (3rd – $91,000). This was already Davies’ ninth final table of the year, with nearly $2.5 million in cash POY extension earnings accrued along the way. He moved up to sixth place in the POY extension standings with this last deep run.
Haxton now occupies third place in the standings POY extension standings, with three titles, eight final tables and nearly $4.6 million in cashes POY extension earnings so far in 2023. Haxton and Greenwood are now No. 1 and No. 2 respectively in total earnings for the year.
